Bad Credit Student Loan

Bad Credit Student Loan

So you have bad credit and you have heard all of the horror stories of being able to obtain bad credit student loans or any other loan for that matter.Bad Credit Student Loan What do you do? Many people just assume that they would not qualify and just take fewer classes to lower tuition and go to work trying to pay for it outright out of their own pocket. Most people struggle doing this and I just want to let you know that bad credit student loans are possible. Below I hope to encourage you and help you in your efforts of getting a bad credit student loan.

#1: Look for student loans that do not factor in credit scores

You may think that this is impossible. However, there are actually student loans available such as the Stafford loan which assumes that a student will go straight from high school to college and will never develop any credit to be able to rely on. This means for you that even if you have bad credit that you can still go in and they will not factor your credit score into your loan agreement. This is not to say they will not check your credit, but it just does not factor in to why you would be accepted or not for it.

#2: Look to parents or a friend with a good credit score

Most of the time people in this situation have just come across bad luck. It is possible you have a bad credit score because you got hurt on your job, you were out of work, you had to file bankruptcy, and now you want to go back to college to retrain yourself in a different field. I have seen this time and time again. In these situations, you might bring a parent or a good friend along with you that might be willing to co-sign on an agreement with the bad credit student loan company. This means they are putting their credit on the line too and they are more inclined to give you a better interest rate.

#3: Look to Federal Aid

My recommendation to everyone is that before you ever step foot into a bank go in early to your college and find out what student aid you might qualify for. I think you would be shocked at what is available out there. Start out with that and then the bad credit student loan companies out there will be much more likely to supplement the help needed to pay for the tuition than paying for all of it. It certainly shows that you need the help!
